Emma Donoghue's six best books

Emma Donoghue is the author of Room and other books. One of her six best books, as shared at the Daily Express:
A THOUSAND ACRES by Jane Smiley

A modern story of an American family dividing up their farm, inspired by King Lear. It’s gripping. Smiley has enormous range. I try to model myself on writers such as her. It means you have to reinvent yourself with each book but that’s good.
Read about another book on the list.

A Thousand Acres is among Anne Tyler's six favorite books, Sally O'Reilly ten top novels inspired by Shakespeare, Alexia Nader's nine favorite books about unhappy families, and John Mullan's top ten twice-told tales.
